G.V. Prakash Kumar is an Indian soundtrack composer, film scorer and singer. Oscar hero A. R. Rahman is the uncle of G.V. Prakash Kumar. He started his career as a vocalist. G.V. Prakash Kumar was born on June 13, 1987. His father name is Venkatesh and his mother name is A. R. Reihana who is the elder sister of music director A. R. Rahman. He married his childhood friend Saindhavi who is a singer. They studied together in Chettinad Vidyashram and they got married on June 27, 2013 in Chennai.

G.V. Prakash Kumar made his debut as a vocalist Tamil film Gentleman which was composed by his uncle A. R. Rahman. He has worked in some projects along with Rahman. In 2004, G.V made his debut as a music director in the film Pakka Thirudan which is directed by Thyagarajan starring Prashanth. The film was a failure and he composed for next film Arun Weds Harini which also a failure. G.V then signed to work in the film Veyil which is a massive hit in 2006. His next film is Oram Po and Kireedom which was average success in 2006.
In 2009, his film Angaadi Theru is very successful. His next film is Madrasapattinam which was a huge box office hit. His music in the film was very much treasured. G. V’s next film Aadukalam in which he sang a song Yathe Yathe and Deiva Thirumagal in 2010 and 2011 was box office hit. His next film Mayakkam Enna, a Selvaraghavan film was appreciated.
